Soft Maple Sugar Cookies
 
 
Serves: 4 dozen
Ingredients
  • ½ cup BUTTER, softened
  • ½ cup SHORTENING, softened
  • 1½ cups GRANULATED SUGAR
  • ¼ cup PACKED BROWN SUGAR
  • ¼ cup PURE MAPLE SYRUP
  • 1 teaspoon BAKING SODA
  • 1 teaspoon CREAM OF TARTAR
  • ⅛ teaspoon SALT
  • 3 EGG YOLKS
  • 1 teaspoon VANILLA
  • 1¾ cups FLOUR
Icing:
  • ¼ cup WHIPPING CREAM or MILK
  • ¼ cup BUTTER, melted
  • 3 Tablespoons PURE MAPLE SYRUP
  • 3 cups POWDERED SUGAR
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  2. Beat together butter and shortening in a large bowl. Add sugars, maple syrup, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt. Add egg yolks and vanilla and beat until well combined. Lastly, beat in flour.
  3. Use a 1 Tablespoon cookie scoop to scoop dough into 1 inch balls and place on baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, remove from oven when edges are light golden brown. Frost when completely cool.
Icing: Whisk together whipping cream, melted butter and pure maple syrup. Gradually add powdered sugar and whisk until smooth. Frost cooled cookies and decorate as desired.
