Cream Cheese Sausage Balls with Creamy Mustard Dipping Sauce

December 26, 2011 By Crumbs and Chaos

Spread the love
This week we’ll be sharing a few great appetizers, just in case you need some great ideas for New Year’s Eve or still have the munchies even after Christmas weekend is said and done.
I had seen these Sausage Balls around Pinterest.  One look at the ingredient list had me sold.  They were easy to make early and bake when I needed them.  I baked them in the oven with something else and the tray was on the bottom shelf, they got a little bit well done on the bottom but were still delicious.  I can’t wait to make them again with hot sausage this time.  Downright deeeelicious!
Printable Recipe Here

1 lb. SAUSAGE, uncooked (you can use regular or hot)
8 oz. CREAM CHEESE, softened
1 1/4 cups BISQUICK BAKING MIX
4 oz. CHEDDAR CHEESE, SHREDDED

Preheat oven to 400°.

Mix all ingredients until well combined.  Roll into 1 inch balls.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden.

You can make these ahead and refrigerate until needed.  Or also freeze until ready to use, you will need to add a few minutes to the baking time.

Dipping Sauce:

1/2 cup MAYO
1/2 cup SOUR CREAM
2 Tablespoons DIJON MUSTARD
1 Tablespoon WHITE WINE VINEGAR
2-6 drops HOT SAUCE
1 medium GARLIC CLOVE, crushed

Combine all ingredients.  Chill until serving.

Oh man… these look amazing… I have a feeling I’d need to break out the Tums afterwards because I’d probably end up eating the whole thing!

can you make these with gluten-free flour or corn starch instead? I have Celiac disease but these look amazing!

I would think that you would be fine using a gluten-free baking mix (something like Bisquick) but I’ve never tried it. Let us know if you try it and it works out for you.
