Cake Batter Rice Crispy Treats

January 5, 2012 By Crumbs and Chaos

Spread the love
I was looking on pinterest yesterday for a fun treat the kids would enjoy.  Even though they eat most anything if it’s a dessert!!  Just looking at the picture of these, I thought they looked like a fun treat for the kids…and….I just love rice crispy treats 😉  Basically you use the original rice crispy treat recipe and add cake mix and sprinkles.  Sounds yummy, huh? These definitely won’t last long at our house!

Cake Batter Rice Crispy Treats
Printable Recipe Here

Ingredients:

3 Tablespoons butter
1- 10 oz. bag mini marshmallows
1/3 Cup yellow cake mix (the dry mix- not mixed up into a batter!)
6 cups rice krispies cereal
1- (1.75oz.) container of sprinkles
Melt butter in large saucepan over low heat.  Add marshmallows.  Stir until they begin to melt, adding in dry cake mix one spoonful at a time to make sure its combined well.  Stir in rice krispies until they are completely coated with marshmallow mixture.  Add half of the sprinkles and mix in.  Press into greased 9×13 pan and top with remaining sprinkles.  Let sit for about 30 minutes before cutting.

(The recipe I found online used 1/4 Cup of cake batter, but, I figured if I’m adding it I want to be able to taste it! next time I might even add a little more!)

I wonder if you could use different cake flavors, like chocolate or strawberry? Or red velvet?

Yummy, these look great! They didn’t last long in my house, either. Possibly because they magically taste like cake batter 🙂
