Feta Cheese Ball

November 1, 2012 By Megan@CrumbsandChaos

Spread the love

As you may have previously read or seen in my about me section, greek flavors are on the top of my list!  For as long as I can remember I have LOVED feta cheese.  There is a family restuarant in our hometown that is owned by two Greek men and although their menu is mainly American food, they did have a select few Greek items including a basic Greek Salad.  I remember going there as a child and ordering a side of Feta cheese.  And they would bring me a few chunks on a plate.  It was one of my favorites!

All of that was to say that once I saw this Feta Cheese Ball I knew I couldn’t pass it up.  I needed an appetizer for a party we were going to and this was wonderfully simple.  Although simple, time is required, being that it needs to chill for minimum of 2 hours.  But the process itself was just a dump and mix.  I served it with Wheat Thins Flatbread Crackers and skinny Garlic Breadsticks.

  • 16 oz CREAM CHEESE, softened
  • 4 ounces FETA CHEESE, crumbled
  • 2 Tablespoons OLIVE OIL
  • 2 GREEN ONIONS, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves GARLIC, minced
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons DRIED OREGANO
  • freshly cracked BLACK PEPPER, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl using an electric mixer, combine cream cheese, feta cheese, olive oil, green onions, garlic, oregano and pepper. Cover and chill for 2 hours. Remove from refrigerator and form into ball. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve. Serve with crackers, flatbread, olives, etc. ENJOY!

I couldn’t make this one. Too much feta. It’s not my favorite, but I do like it on pizza and with greek food…
