Deep Dish Pizza Supreme

Deep Dish Pizza_Supreme

This post is brought to you by Ragú.

Pizza night is a regular weekly thing in our house. And, on occasion, it sneaks in more than once a week because it’s a pretty easy meal to make and sometimes time is short and ideas are few {even if you’re a food blogger!} Switching up the regular comes in handy when having to feed a small crowd every night for dinner.

Another way to keep things easy is having tasty ingredients on hand to whip up a quick meal like this one. I like to cook things like italian sausage ahead and freeze it in 1/2 lb. portions, I always have pepperoni and mozzarella nearby and frozen peppers, onions and pizza dough are easy to pull from the freezer early in the day to make dinner prep a cinch.

The crowning jewel of this dish is the Ragú® Old World Style® Traditional Sauce – each jar is to be made with 11 juicy tomatoes making it its richest, thickest recipe. Ragú asked me to put a New Tra-Dish spin on deep dish pizza. I made mine in my trusty cast iron skillet and included all of my favorite pizza toppings. Oozing with cheese and topped with Ragú…get your fork ready because pizza night just got way better.

Be sure to visit the Ragú Facebook page for more easy and authentic Italian recipe ideas. And don’t forget to enter the Ragú Better and Better Sweepstakes for a chance to win some awesome prizes!

Deep Dish Pizza Supreme

Ingredients:

Favorite Pizza Toppings – Sausage, Pepperoni, Mushrooms, Green Pepper, etc.

2 Tablespoons Butter, softened

1 lb. Frozen Pizza Dough, thawed

8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 jar Ragú® Old World Style® Traditional Sauce

Preheat oven to 425°.

If you are using sausage, cook it in a skillet until browned. Drain and set aside.

Butter the bottom and sides of a 10-12 inch cast iron skillet (if you don’t have a cast iron skillet, you could use a 9 in. cake pan or a deep dish pie plate). Press dough over the bottom of the pan and up the sides.

Evenly distribute 1 ½ cups of shredded cheese over crust, layer on toppings – meat on bottom and then veggies. Sprinkle garlic over everything and add remaining cheese. Carefully spread 1 ½ cups Ragú® Old World Style® Traditional Sauce over the top, so that all of the cheese is covered.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until crust is golden. Let stand for 5 minutes before slicing, serve immediately.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.  Legal residents of the 50 United States (D.C.) 18 years and older.  Ends 5/6/14.  To enter and for Official Rules, including odds, alternate method of entry, and prize descriptions, visit www.RaguSweeps.com.  Void where prohibited.
