Maple Fudge | recipe on www.crumbsandchaos.dreamhosters.com

How many of you have already started making your yearly batch of Christmas goodies?  May I suggest that you add this Maple Fudge to your list of things to make this year?  It’s downright amazing!!

I consider fudge an absolute must have Christmas treat.  My mother-in-law requests that I make peanut butter fudge each year and I usually whip up a batch of classic chocolate too. But this fudge is my new favorite.  You can taste all of the things it has going on – butter, brown sugar and maple.  And it is insanely delicious.  There isn’t a whole lot of hands on time required to make this, from start to finish it’s about 20 minutes.  So it really is a simple thing to have on hand for treat trays and to give away this holiday.

How long did it take for your fudge to set? I made mine yesterday and it is still very soft. I even tried putting it in the fridge last night hoping that would help and it has not. Was hoping to give this as gifts this year.

I just made this again today. It set within a couple of hours. I’m sorry that you had trouble with yours. A couple of things that may affect whether it sets or not – using butter and not margarine; bringing it to a full boil and then cooking for 10 minutes exactly; making sure you used a 5 oz. not 12 oz. can of evaporated milk. I wonder if any of these were a factor for you.

Do you use salted or unsalted butter for this and your peanut butter fudge recipe? Thank you

I’ve used both depending what I had on hand at the time. Either one works well. Enjoy!
