Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies

February 2, 2012 By Crumbs and Chaos

Spread the love
I stumbled upon these on Recipegirl.com and the picture immediately caught my eye.  Brownies… check.  Cookie Dough… check.  Chocolate… check.  I knew that I couldn’t go wrong! So when I heard that there was a bake-off at church, this recipe came to mind!
They turned out wonderfully.  The fudge brownies with the delightful (egg-free) cookie dough on top hit the spot with my whole family.  And at the bake-off they were a hit too!  They won second place in the people’s choice catagory and by the end of the night they were gone.  I will definitely be making these again.
I would also highly recommend serving them in the individual cupcake papers.  It makes the serving small, but is really the perfect size for such a rich treat.  It also makes it easy to do the drizzling!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies

Ingredients

  • Your favorite BROWNIE MIX, (I just used a boxed mix, it needs to be for a 9 x 13 pan)
  • 3/4 cup BUTTER, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup BROWN SUGAR
  • 3/4 cup SUGAR
  • 3 Tablespoons MILK
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons VANILLA
  • 1 1/2 cups FLOUR
  • 1 1/2 cups MINI CHOCOLATE CHIPS

Instructions

  1. Prepare the brownies according to recipe or package directions. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
  2. While cooling: In a medium bowl, use an electric mixer to combine butter, brown sugar and sugar. Mix in milk and vanilla. Mix in flour just until combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
  3. Then spread cookie dough over the cooled brownies. Refrigerate until the dough is quite firm. Cut into small squares (Placing them in cupcake papers makes for easy serving).
  4. Melt 1/2 cup chocolate chips with 1 teaspoon of shortening in the microwave; stir until smooth. Scoop the melted chocolate into a zip baggie and snip off the corner. Squeeze the bag to drizzle the chocolate on top of each brownie. Sprinkle additional chocolate chips on top. ENJOY!!

these look so good! I have been trying to find a good recipe for a work bake-off contest, and I might make this. Do you have to keep it in the fridge after baking? Happy you linked to Things I’ve Done Thursday!

It is best if you keep them chilled as long as possible so that the cookie dough doesn’t get too soft. Mine were out of the fridge for at least a half hour before people started eating them and they turned out great! Hope you enjoy them!
