Grandma’s Pumpkin Bread

October 21, 2010 By Crumbs and Chaos

Spread the love

Perfect time of year for this delicious bread and Grandma makes it best! This is the recipe my Grandma makes every year for Thanksgiving and I’ve loved it for as long as I can remember.  My Grandma and I share the same birthday, the week of Thanksgiving, and all I know is I’d rather have her pumpkin bread any year over a cake!

You’ll need:

2 C Sugar
1 C Oil
3 Eggs
2 C Pumpkin
3 C Flour
1/2 t Salt
1/2 t Baking Powder
1 t Baking Soda
1 t Cloves
1 t Cinnamon
1 t Nutmeg

Heat oven to 325.  Grease three 7 1/2 x 3 1/2 pans*.  Beat sugar and oil with mixer until blended.  Add eggs.  Beat until light and fluffy.  Then beat in pumpkin.

Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, soda, cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg.  Then, with mixer at low speed, beat flour mixture into pumpkin mixture.

Pour into pans.  Bake 60 minutes.  Cool in pans for 10 minutes.

*This recipe also makes 2 8×4 loaves and 6 muffins.  The bake time for the muffins is about 25 minutes.
