Snicker Apple Salad

The word SALAD is definitely one with a broad definition.

A salad is a mixture of various ingredients that are usually kept cold. I mean, really, there are good-for-you-salads loaded with lettuce and veggies, salads that combine mayo with chicken or egg that make a fabulous sandwich, salads that take a starch like pasta or potatoes and come together to be a delicious side dish. There are also salads of the sweeter variety – fruit or pudding-based.

That’s what I have to share with you today…a dessert salad. It’s hard to go wrong with the cool, creamy combo of cool whip, pudding, apples and SNICKERS CANDY BARS! My dear friend, Emily, introduced me to this salad a while back and we’ve loved it ever since.

I’m was excited to make it yesterday with the Early Golden Delicious Apples that I had gotten from the fruit stand last week. And since it’s the beginning of apple season, I’m sure we’ll be enjoying it more often in the next couple of months.

It’s one of my favorite types of recipes – the ones you just chop, stir and you’re done! Here’s what you need:

Ingredients

1 large box VANILLA PUDDING MIX
1 Cup MILK
1 large tub of COOL WHIP
6 APPLES, cored and chopped
6 SNICKERS CANDY BARS, chopped

In a large bowl, whisk together pudding mix and milk.

Stir in cool whip.

Add Snickers and apples. Stir to combine.

Cover and refrigerate until serving.

NOTES:
*Use tart apples to balance out the sweetness of the other ingredients, i.e. Granny Smith, Golden Delicious.
*You can buy a six-pack of Snickers bars or use a bag of the fun size version. I like the bigger ones because then there’s less unwrapping to do.

I first tasted this while at a girls camp about a dozen years ago, and it has been my pot-luck staple ever since. I love it! So simple and tasty.
