Pumpkin Pie Shakes times THREE!

October 14, 2011 By Crumbs and Chaos

Spread the love

Last year was the first year that I really got into the pumpkin ice cream craze!  I had had it before and liked it, but it was never something that I would have requested.  THEN… last year Becca told me about how she had made a pumpkin pie shake at home!  I decided to give it a try and I have yet to be disappointed.
The times THREE happened one night when I was making shakes.  My husband didn’t want to try the pumpkin pie shake and requested an Oreo shake instead.  I made his and then got a little lazy and didn’t want to clean the blender.  AND the Oreo Pumpkin Pie shake was born.  Then my brain got to thinking about the other possibilities.  They really are endless… I thought about bacon (no thanks, Becca!) or nutella, but ultimately landed on Butterfinger!  It was another winner and now everyone around my house is a pumpkin pie shake lover!
This time I also went another step to making it a true pumpkin pie experience by making pie fries.  I had never heard of these before, but they really are good and rounded out the flavors nicely!

PUMPKIN PIE SHAKES
Printable Recipe Here
Ingredients
1/3 cup PUMPKIN
MILK*
1/4 teaspoon VANILLA

1/2 teaspoon CINNAMON
Dash of CLOVES
Dash of NUTMEG
2 Tablespoon BROWN SUGAR
2 cups VANILLA ICE CREAM

WHIPPED CREAM
Mix-in of your choice — 4 oreos or half of a Butterfinger, crushed
*I like a thick milkshake that I need a spoon for so I only use a splash of milk.  If you like to drink yours through a straw you can add 1/4 – 1/2 cup.
Directions
Combine all ingredients, except the whipped cream and mix-in.  Blend until smooth.  Add crushed mix-in and blend until combined.  Pour into glasses and top with whipped cream and sprinkle with extra mix-in.  ENJOY!

1 9-inch PIE CRUST — or make your own if you’re really adventerous
1 Tablespoon BUTTER, melted
CINNAMON SUGAR MIXTURE
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Unroll a pie crust.  With a pizza cutter, cut strips about 1/2 in thick.  Brush lightly with melted butter and top with cinnamon sugar mixture.  Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.  Serve with your pumpkin pie shake.  ENJOY!

Thanks for linking up today to Must Try Mondays. I’ve been wondering how a pumpkin shake would be. I have always had pumpkin in baked goods, or warm like in coffee. I am going to try this. Thank you!
