Happy Monday morning! It’s APPLE SEASON and we’re excited this week to be joining a fabulous group of bloggers that will be sharing delicious apple goodness all week long. Aimee and Jocelyn have organized this APPLICIOUS WEEK (thanks so much ladies!) – be sure to stop over to their blogs to check out a super giveaway!
I LOVE FALL for so many reasons…colorful leaves, apple picking, cool nights and bonfires, an excuse to make pumpkin desserts. So when I saw a recipe that include both apples and pumpkin I couldn’t pass it by. We loved this – tender apples under a smooth pumpkin layer topped with crisp topping – don’t forget the vanilla ice cream, it completes this lovely dessert.
Dutch Apple Pumpkin Crisp
Ingredients
- 2 cups APPLES, peeled and chopped
- 3/4 cup FLOUR
- 3/4 cup BROWN SUGAR
- 1/4 cup BUTTER, softened
- 3/4 teaspoon PUMPKIN PIE SPICE, divided
- 1 cup PUMPKIN PUREE
- 1/3 cup WHITE SUGAR
- 1/4 cup MILK
- 2 Tablespoons FLOUR
- 1 EGG
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°.
Place apples in the bottom of a 9 inch pie plate. Microwave 2 1/2 – 4 minutes, until apples are crisp tender.
In a small bowl, mix together 3/4 cup flour, brown sugar, butter and 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice. Stir together until crumbly, set aside.
In a medium bowl, whisk together pumpkin, sugar, milk, 2 Tablespoons flour, 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice and egg. Pour over apples in pie plate. Sprinkle crisp topping mixture over pumpkin layer.
Bake 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and set. Let cool 30 minutes, serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

This was so delicious. My daughter has dairy allergies so I substituted Lactaid milk and margarine in the recipe. This is going to be a regular dessert in our family. It set so well that we could serve it like a piece of pie.

Lauri, So glad you enjoyed this! Thank you for sharing how you adapted it to work for your family.

What kind of apples work best. Would Gala apples work?
Becca@CrumbsandChaos says
You could definitely use Gala. Golden Delicious, Granny Smith or Jonagold would be great too. Enjoy!
