An adorable Easter treat, Carrot Patch Cookies are something the kids can make while waiting for the egg hunt!
I was recently looking for ideas for the homeschool co-op class that I teach. The book we were reading was The Tale of Peter Rabbit and I needed some activities to go along with that. I came across a picture of these Carrot Patch Cookies and thought they would be a super cute Easter treat. The link to the picture was no longer active, so this is my version.
It’s more of a method than a recipe – wafer cookies, frosting, chocolate cookie crumbs and carrots made out of candy. We used both vanilla and cookies and cream wafer cookies to make the ‘box’ for the carrots to go in (they were Voortman brand in case you’re wondering). The carrots are made out of orange slice candies and green apple sour patch straws, although any candy that could be cut into the right shape could be used.
I love these because they aren’t too fussy and a little rustic in a way. There are several different ways to make these floating around the internet. You certainly can add sides to the box, which we did for a couple, but I really think it’s an optional step. These are best enjoyed pretty soon after they’re made, but they don’t take too long to put together. My kids really enjoyed them!

- WAFER COOKIES, flavor of your choice
- CHOCOLATE FROSTING, store bought works well
- CHOCOLATE COOKIE CRUMBS, I used Oreos after I took out the cream
- ORANGE SLICE CANDIES
- GREEN APPLE SOUR PATCH STRAWS
- Lay one wafer cookie flat, frost the outside edge of both of the long sides. Stand another wafer cookie on edge and press onto one frosted side of the first cookie. Repeat with the other side.
- Fill the space with more frosting. Cover with chocolate cookie crumbs.
- Create carrots by cutting outside ends of orange slice off at an angle. Cut remaining piece in half and then in half the opposite way so they aren't too thick. Make a small cut in the top of the carrot for stem.
- Make stems by cutting sour patch straw open and holding flat. Cut in half and then cut each piece into three stems. Cut a slit on the top of the stem. Insert stem into carrot piece.
- Place carrots in dirt and enjoy!

These are adorable! Not sure my kids would actually make them, rather eat all the ingredients…but it would be fun regardless!
