A little organization never hurts…

August 6, 2010 By Crumbs and Chaos

Spread the love

For the majority of this blog so far we have focused mainly on the CRUMBS, by giving you our favorite recipes and tips from the kitchen. But today, I would like to address the CHAOS!! Everyone has a little chaos in their lives no matter how hard they try to keep things under control.

I for one am a person who loves organization! The idea of putting things in groups or in a certain order actually makes me happy! Weird… I know! However, my house sometimes doesn’t show this love of organization. But I would like to share with you three things that you can do to keep your home in order. The first one is something that can be done every single day, the other two are things that you might need to do once a year, or every other year to keep clutter at bay.

#1… NEVER LET THE MAIL TOUCH YOUR HANDS MORE THAN ONCE!

When you get the mail go through it immediately. Don’t set it on the counter or table because it tends to pile up. Instead… recycle the junk mail, put the magazines on the coffee table, and put the bills on the desk.

#2… CLEAN OUT YOUR UTENSIL DRAWER

Have you ever gone to find the pizza cutter and feel like you have to dig through spatulas, rolling pins, zesters, and every other utensil ever made?? A tip I saw on Rachael Ray was to get a box, put all your utensils in it for a month. When you use a utensil, wash it, and return it to it’s original drawer. After the month is over, take the utensils still in the box and either give them away or put them in storage because they are the ones that don’t get used.

#3… CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSET

Similar to #2, this is a great way to get rid of clothes that don’t fit or are out-of-style. At the beginning of the season, turn all of your hanging clothes to face one direction. As you wear the clothes, wash them, and return them to the closet. Only this time turn the hanger to face them in the other direction. At the end of the season you will see what you didn’t wear. Then you have the chance to go through and see if it is a piece that doesn’t fit or if it is out of style. Then you can give it away or put it in storage. Keep in mind that you shouldn’t take in to account the clothes that are out of season!!

HAPPY ORGANIZING!
