Black Friday

November 25, 2010 By Crumbs and Chaos

Spread the love

Some people love this day, some people don’t care and then there are others who can’t stand the crowds.  Black Friday originated in 1966 in Philadelphia.  The name was given by the police department as this day meant lots of shopping in the city and massive traffic jams and crowds of people.   It has now become a retailer’s dream as the first official day of the Christmas Holiday shopping and as much as 23% of all holiday sales come in on this day.

Now if you want to shop on Black Friday you must expect crowds, long lines but great deals on several of the season’s hottest items.  The best thing to do is go with a plan.

Here are some great tips from the Black Friday 2010 website:

1) Purchase a newspaper on Thanksgiving Day.  Research the ads and pick out the stores that you want to shop at.

2) Make a list of what you want from each store and what time the store opens.

3) Visualize where the items are in the store so you know where to go to find what you need.

4) If shopping with family and friends, come up with a meeting place within the store and then go your separate ways to get what is on your list.

5) Have fun and enjoy the deals!

Some of our favorite stores for Black Friday deals, check out their ads!

Target is always great for movies, electronics and toys.  Plus, they give you a $10 gift card when you spend $100.

Walmart is another great place to shop.  But remember there will probably be long lines so if there is something you really want you will need to get there early!

JCPenney has lots of great deals on clothing and shoes for the entire family.

No matter where you shop remember the true meaning of Christmas and enjoy time with family and friends this holiday season!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING from Crumbs and Chaos.
