What is a cookie exchange party?
I’m glad you asked…it is a gathering where you ask those who attend to bring a batch of cookies (about a dozen per guest and another dozen to enjoy at the party). You then get to go home with a wide array of treats that you didn’t have to slave in the kitchen all day making.
My party was divided into two sessions – the first was when my sisters and mom came to visit. They brought sugar cookies, peanut butter blossoms and gingerbread trees with lemon icing. We enjoyed them all, my favorite were the gingerbread ones, hopefully Megan will be sharing the recipe with you soon! I made Hershey’s Kisses Cocoa Cookies, and while they were good, I didn’t absolutely love them.
My second party was with friends and it ended up being a small group because of a virus going around. But we still enjoyed eating and playing Bananagrams.
I made the cocoa crinkle cookies that Hershey’s gave me the recipe for. A chocolate-y, cake-like cookie that was easy to make, but you need to plan ahead to have enough time to chill the dough.
Some of the guests reading their new Hershey’s recipe cards – Hershey’s included a set of 7 recipe cards for each guest.
Simple and delicious – these were absolutely amazing when warmed in the microwave for a few seconds. This recipe was found here.
The most delicious sugar cookie I have ever enjoyed…yum! The recipe I have been longing to find, I will hopefully be sharing it with you before too long.
Here’s the recipe for the cookies I made for the party. They would be great to make this week while the kids are still home from school.
Cocoa Crinkle Cookies
2 cups SUGAR
3/4 cup VEGETABLE OIL
3/4 cup HERSHEY’S COCOA POWDER
4 EGGS
2 teaspoons VANILLA EXTRACT
2 1/3 cups FLOUR
2 teaspoons BAKING POWDER
1/2 teaspoon SALT
POWDERED SUGAR
Combine sugar and oil in large bowl, add cocoa powder, beating until well blended.
Beat in eggs and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to cocoa mixture, beating well.
Cover. Refrigerate until dough is firm enough to handle, at least 6 hours.
Heat oven to 350°. Grease cookie sheet. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in powder sugar to coat. Place about 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheet.
Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched lightly and tops are crackled. Cool slightly. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.
Disclaimer: Hershey’s provided a cookie exchange party kit to help me host my party, but the experiences and opinions are my own.
