Ahhh, one of my all time favorite foods – PIZZA!
It’s a meal you can’t go wrong with and there are so many options. It’s incredible and cheap to make it at home yourself, unless you can’t get the crust quite right. This one turned out to be a winner. Crispy on the outside and still chewy inside.
We topped this pizza with fresh garlic, black olives, sauteed mushrooms, pepperoni and fresh mozzarella. To add a little something extra, I like to sprinkle this garlic bread seasoning all over the top right before I put it into the oven. And that’s just because garlic makes me happy.
HOMEMADE PIZZA CRUST
1 1/4 cups WARM WATER
2 packets ACTIVE DRY YEAST (= 4 1/2 teaspoons)
3 Tablespoons EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
1 Tablespoon HONEY
4 cups FLOUR, plus extra for kneading and flouring the counter
2 teaspoons KOSHER SALT
Begin by preheating the oven to 200°. After it has reached 200°, turn the oven off and leave the door closed.
Place the water, yeast, oil and honey in a large bowl and whisk to combine. Let stand for 5 minutes.
Add 3 cups of flour, stir to combine. Add in the final cup of flour and the salt, stir again.
If using your stand mixer, attach the dough hook and knead for about 10 minutes. Place on a floured surface and knead by hand about 12 times.
If kneading by hand, put on a floured surface and knead about 10 minutes. The dough should feel smooth and elastic.
Place in a well oiled bowl, cover with a dish towel and place in the warm oven. Let rise for 30 minutes to an hour.
Transfer the risen dough to a floured surface and divide in half. Cover and let rise again for 10 minutes.
After the 10 minutes, use dough immediately. You can also refrigerate it for a few days or freeze it.
To use: Preheat oven to 450°, stretch dough out on baking sheet. Top with your favorite toppings and bake about 10-15 minutes depending on how you like your pizza.

I’m not sure we’ve ever made pizza crust from scratch. We have definitely used everything imaginable as our bottom but have never home made it.
